The Linux version is not quite as polished as the Windows version,
but should be perfectly usable. Any problems are likely to be user
interface glitches only, rather than the calculations. (A comprehensive
test suite for the calculations pases on all systems.)
The website has a tar file pgopher-i386-Linux.tgz
for 32 bit x86
machines - simply download and unpack (tar xvf) and run the pgopher executable. It should run on most recent Linux distributions as is provided the correct libraries
are installed, mainly gnome support libraries. A
64 bit version may also be available, though it does not offer any
significant advantages over the 32 bit version. The 32 bit version will run on 64 bit systems, provided the
appropriate 32 bit libraries are installed. (This is ia32-libs on Debian and derivatives.)
